We’ve set up two lovely scenic routes through the province this year. We’ve written down all directions and instructions as we did the previous Going Dutch’s and included them in the binder you’ll receive upon arrival.

As in 2024, we went through the effort of capturing all routes in digital GPX files that can be used as backup or for assistance using your favorite GPX navigation system, or by using (a trial) version of the TomTom Maps and Navigation app for Andriod or IOS. In case you’re planning to make use of the GPX files, we highly recommend you to prepare this from home.

Please click the following link to download the GPX files for the routes (right click to download and save instead of opening the file directly):
GPX-file of the Friday route: GD26-Friday_route_Vollenhoven.gpx
GPX-file of the Saterday route: GD26-Saterday_route_IJlst_Sneek_Joure.gpx
(or both in a single zip file: GD2026-gpx-files.zip )

To use the GPX files with TomTom Go Expert app, one should roughly go through the following steps:

  1. Part 1
  2. Use your laptop to go to TomTom Plan, create a TomTom account and login.
  3. Within TomTom Plan, navigate to Menu – My items – Routes, and click Import GPX flie to add the GD26 routes using the downloaded .gpx files. (Choose Exact route instead of Fast route when asked)
  4. Within TomTom Plan, open the routes one by one and tick the switch to ‘sync this route as track with my devices’

Part 2 (don’t start before 24th of May if you plan to use the trial for the GD’26 drives)
  5. Install the TomTom GO Expert: Truck GPS for iOS or Android
  6. Open the app, choose Car instead of Truck, First login with your TomTom account (login button is located underneath the trial adverticements)
  7. Select 7-Day-Trial, complete the payment info and check-out.
  8. Download the Map of The Netherlands, to be able to use the app offline.
  9. Make sure “My Items” are synced from your account and navigate to Menu – My Routes to find the GD’26 routes.
  10. Enjoy the ride!
  11. Don’t forget to cancel your subscription πŸ˜‰

As an alternative to the TomTom Go Navigation App it’s possible to use the app called GPX-viewer; available for Android and Apple.
